What’s your name, role and background?

I’m Nana Hughes Lartey and I’m a Director at Spectre Creative. I met Matthew at college. We went to university and then started the business together.

What did you want to be when you were younger?

I wanted to be a footballer when I was younger. I also wanted to be a policeman. I realised I don’t like being told what to do, so that’s why I became a director.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by people that take it upon themselves to do things for themselves. I’m inspired by the thought of how good can you be. No one can tell you how good you can be, you need to find that out. When I see someone doing something that’s ambitious, I’m inspired by that.

Favourite social media platform?

Instagram. A close second is Twitter, it’s a hit and miss. Instagram is more pure, although it’s getting more and more like Facebook.

Favourite places to go in Glasgow?

I used to like going to nightclubs like The Arches and Sub Club. Now I like going to The Tramway and The Lighthouse for art exhibitions or the park when it’s sunny.

What colour describes your personality the best?

My favourite colour’s green, it’s very calming. I think red describes my personality the best as I’m passionate, fiery and a little hot-headed.

Would you describe a cup to be half full or half empty?

Half full. I’m an optimistic guy.

A place you want to visit?

One place on my bucket list is Japan. It looks like such a different world compared to here. It gives a glimpse of what the future will be like for us.

How do you take your tea or coffee?

Strong with some milk. No sugar.

Would you rather never use social media sites again or never watch another movie or TV show?

Social media, gone! I’m a big fan of films. Good stories and experiences are gained from films, but social media? I was born in the 80’s, so I could go back to living without it.

What’s your favourite emoji?

The laughing face emoji, the monkey with its face in its hands or the poo emoji, it’s so funny! 😂🙈💩

If you could live in any other decade right now, in the past or future, which one would it be?

The music in the 90’s was an amazing era. Also to go back to the 1200’s to see the Mali empire as I know they conquered a lot of the world before they started recording the history of that part of Africa. I can’t think of a better time to be born than the past 30 years. The 2000’s were amazing. I’m happy to exist when I exist.

Favourite inspirational quote?

“Treat yourself like you are somebody that you are responsible for helping” – Jordan Peterson

If you apply that to everyone, it’s a much better way of living.
