What’s your name, role and background?
I’m Matt and I’m a Director at Spectre Creative. I met Nana in college and then we went to university together. We started the business while in our third year of university, four sweet years ago.
What did you want to be when you were younger?
I wanted to work in the film industry or direct films, which is maybe why I chose to be a company director. Thinking back I’m not sure what part of film I wanted to work in. Either the director or the cameraman as I really like cameras, I always liked the idea of telling stories.
What inspires you?
People in the world who persist through great difficulty. People worldwide who have difficult lives, socially or economically, but go to work every day and still persist to put 100% effort into what they do. That’s who inspires me.
I find it difficult to get enthusiastic about people who have had opportunities afforded to them, although impressive. People who have lacked opportunities and did something anyway always inspired me.
Favourite social media platform?
Instagram. I love pictures. It would be the ideal place if it was just all about the pictures and without captions, that’s what Facebook’s for.
Favourite places to go in Glasgow?
I like the Botanic Gardens around dusk when it’s mostly quiet. I’m not a big outdoors person, but I like a little nature in the city. Places like Glasgow Green and Kelvingrove for example. Also any coffee shops, I’m a big coffee drinker.
What colour describes your personality the best?
Red, I’m running hot quite a lot, although not in an aggressive or angry way.
Would you describe a cup to be half full or half empty?
I’d describe it as half. I’m not sure if I’m either optimistic or pessimistic, I’m equal on both sides.
A place you want to visit?
Somewhere I’ve never visited before and would love to visit is definitely Japan. The best place I’ve visited was Vietnam. If I didn’t have to consider working I’d move there.
How do you take your tea or coffee?
I enjoy a Latte. Although at someone’s house I would have an Espresso, no one ever has soya milk.
Would you rather never use social media sites again or never watch another movie or TV show?
100% social media. I have all social media accounts, but not on my phone. Personally, social media can be overwhelming. I could live without it.
What’s your favourite emoji?
The one with the jazz hands. Although I’ve been told recently its a hug. Or the perfect hand gesture. 🤗👌🏻
If you could live in any other decade right now, in the past or future, which one would it be?
I’d like to live at the height of the Roman Empire or Ancient Greece. A time of great thought. It would be interesting to live in. However, I could only do it if I lived in absolute decadence. I would fail as a gladiator so my options are limited.
Favourite inspirational quote?
